Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app need the account?

Because it is the simplest and most convenient way for the user to make themselves known to the system.

There is no need to type any passwords ("I would rather stand in freezing rain naked than type a password in on the phone."). The app uses your existing (or new) Google account instead. All you need to do is select the account and grant the application permission to use it. The control system also uses the same account.

Does this work if I have 2-factor verification enabled?

Yes.

Can I use this app to control more than one remote system?

Yes, one system per account. Likewise, you can use the same account on several systems, the app will control all zones - just make sure zone names are unique.

What does "Free quota exceeded, come back tomorrow" mean?

At this point, the cloud server is powered by a free service with limited resources. This means that the quota has been exceeded (not necessarily by you). Quota resets every 24 hours, at midnight GMT-7.

Why does the app require permissions it does?

  • FULL NETWORK ACCESS is required to communicate with the cloud server;
  • FIND ACCOUNTS ON THE DEVICE is required to select an account to use for authentication;
  • USE ACCOUNTS ON THE DEVICE is required to use the selected account to authenticate against the cloud server.
